Surf Board

The Savannah College of Art & Design hosts an annual Surf Board Design Competition in conjunction with their Sand Arts Festival.  This is the design I submitted in 2016 for which I was awarded Third Runner-Up.

Every element of the design is a symbol meant to represent some aspect of SCAD's 'spirit.'  The number of rings andsquares represent the number of majors and minors offered, respectively. The eleven sets of rings represent the nine planets, moon, and sun symbolizing SCAD's incredible worldliness and international presence, a symbol mirrored by the globe shape made by the distorted squares in the background.  And finally, from a color palette of only five colors, there are no two sets of rings who share the same combination of colors, showing how different and somehow immensely similar we can be with our fellow international classmates.
